Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- 1 oz cranberry juice
- 1/2 oz triple sec
- 1/2 oz lime juice
- 1/2 oz simple syrup
- Crushed candy canes– alternatives can be rock candy, sugar or confectioners sugar
- Fresh cranberries
- Ice
Instructions:
- Begin by crushing some candy canes and rimming the edge of a chilled martini glass with the crushed candy canes– Some people simply don’t like mint. As an alternative to candy canes, try using red or clear rock candy crused up. Another option is to use regular or confectioners sugar for the rim.
- Combine the vodka, cranberry juice, triple sec, lime juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
- Strain the cocktail into the prepared martini glass.
- Garnish with a few fresh cranberries on a cocktail pick, and serve.
Mocktail:
Leave out Vodka and Triple Sec. Exchange Triple sec for orange juice or orange soda for some fizz.
Enjoy your festive Santa Clausmopolitan!

A little history on Santa Claus:
Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas, Kris Kringle, Father Christmas, or simply Santa, has evolved over centuries from various folklore and historical figures. The modern depiction of Santa Claus is largely inspired by Saint Nicholas, a Christian bishop from the 4th century in what is now Turkey. Saint Nicholas was known for his generosity and gift-giving, especially to children and the needy.
Over time, his legend merged with other cultural and folk traditions, including the Dutch figure Sinterklaas, the English figure Father Christmas, and various gift-giving traditions from around the world. The transformation of Santa Claus into the jolly, rosy-cheeked, red-suited figure we recognize today began in the 19th century, largely influenced by the poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” (commonly known as “The Night Before Christmas”) and illustrations by artists like Thomas Nast.
Coca-Cola’s advertising campaigns in the 1930s further solidified the modern image of Santa Claus, making him a beloved and iconic figure associated with the holiday season worldwide.
