A little history:

Kodinhi goes back centuries, and the village has played an essential role in the cultural and economic development of the region.

The village, located in the Malappuram district of Kerala, was once part of the ancient kingdom of Valluvanad. The region was known for its fertile land, abundant natural resources, and strategic location, making it an important trade and commerce center.

Over the centuries, Kodinhi and the surrounding areas were ruled by various dynasties, including the Cheras, the Pandyas, and the Cholas. These rulers left their mark on the region in the form of temples, palaces, and other architectural marvels.

India twinsWithin the medieval period, the area became a hub of the spice trade, with traders from all over the world coming to Kerala to buy spices such as pepper, cardamom, and cinnamon. The trade brought great wealth to the region, and many local communities, including Kodinhi, prospered.

Then came the colonial period, in which Kerala came under the control of the British, establishing several regional administrative centers. The British also introduced new technologies, such as railways and telegraph lines, which helped to modernize the region further.

In the post-independence era, Kerala emerged as a center of social reform and political activism, with movements for social justice and equality gaining momentum.

Currently, Kodinhi is a thriving village with an amazing sense of community. Its fame as the “twin village” may have put it on the map, but its humbleness is what will continue to draw visitors back for more.
