Where is Bali and How Can I Get There

BaliBali is an Indonesian island located in the western end of the Lesser Sunda Islands, lying between Java to the west and Lombok to the east. It is one of the country’s 33 provinces with the provincial capital at Denpasar towards the south of the island. Bali is the home of the country’s largest Hindu population and the largest tourist destination in the world.

There are a few different ways to get to Bali, depending on your location and preferred mode of transportation.

One option is to fly to Bali’s main airport, Ngurah Rai International Airport, which is located in the southern part of the island in Denpasar. There are many international airlines that offer flights to Bali from major cities around the world, including Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, and Tokyo, among others.

Another option is to take a ferry from one of the nearby islands, such as Java or Lombok. There are several ferry companies that operate regular services between these islands, with departures from major cities such as Surabaya and Jakarta in Java, and Lembar in Lombok.

If you prefer to travel overland, you can also take a bus or train from Java to Bali. There are regular bus services that operate between the two islands, with departures from major cities such as Surabaya and Yogyakarta. Alternatively, you can take a train from Surabaya to Banyuwangi, which is located on the eastern tip of Java, and then catch a ferry from there to Bali.

  3. Kuta Beach: Kuta Beach is located on the southern side of Bali and is known for its vibrant nightlife and shopping districts. It is a popular spot for young travelers and is also home to a number of surf schools.
  4. Jimbaran Beach: Jimbaran Beach is located on the southern side and is known for its calm waters and seafood BBQs. It is a popular spot for romantic sunset dinners and is also home to a number of luxury resorts.
  5. Uluwatu Beach: Uluwatu Beach is located on the southern side of Bali and is known for its stunning cliffside setting and world-class surf breaks. It is a popular spot for surfers and is also home to the famous Uluwatu Temple.
  6. Sanur Beach: Sanur Beach is located on the eastern side and is known for its calm waters and laid-back atmosphere. It is a popular spot for families and is also home to a number of hotels and restaurants.
  7. Canggu Beach: Canggu Beach is located on the western side and is known for its laid-back surfer vibe and trendy beach clubs. It is a popular spot for surfers and is also home to some of the best cafes and restaurants on the island.
  8. Amed Beach: Amed Beach is located on the eastern side the island and is known for its stunning views of the surrounding mountains and peaceful atmosphere. It is a popular spot for snorkeling and diving and is also home to a number of small fishing villages.

One of the best adventures is surfing at Kuta Beach. The menu changes daily, so there’s always something new to try. One of the standout dishes is the black truffle risotto, which is made with locally sourced ingredients and finished with a generous sprinkle of shaved truffles.

Another must-do restaurant is Merah Putih, which is located in Seminyak. This is a contemporary Indonesian restaurant, known for its modern twist on traditional dishes, such as its signature ayam betutu (smoked chicken). This family-run restaurant serves up delicious traditional Indonesian dishes at reasonable prices. Portions are generous, so come hungry! Some of the must-try dishes include the gado-gado (vegetables with peanut sauce) and the nasi campur (mixed rice).
