Did you know?

In New York City, a secret underground tunnel connects the Waldorf Astoria Hotel to Grand Central Terminal. Built in the 1930s, it was used by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to conceal his wheelchair from the public, allowing him to travel discreetly between the hotel and the train station.

Currently, the tunnel remains closed to the public, but it is a fascinating piece of New York City history.

A little history:

New York City’s history is as diverse and dynamic as its present. Originally settled by the Lenape Native Americans, the Dutch colonized the area, which became New Amsterdam in the 17th century. It was later seized by the British and renamed New York.

The city grew rapidly throughout the centuries, fueled by waves of immigration, trade, and commerce. From the Revolutionary War to the Civil Rights Movement, New York has been at the forefront of pivotal moments in American history. Today, it is a global hub of culture, finance, and innovation, shaped by its rich and storied past.
