Did you know?

Kiwis are not only delicious but also incredibly nutritious. They’re packed with vitamin C, even more than oranges, which helps boost your immune system. They also contain a significant amount of fiber, which supports digestive health. Additionally, kiwis are rich in antioxidants, including lutein and zeaxanthin, which are beneficial for eye health. Their natural enzymes, like actinidin, can aid digestion by breaking down proteins. So, enjoying a kiwi or a kiwi-infused cocktail–a tasty way to support your overall well-being!

A little history:

The Kiwi, originally called the Chinese gooseberry, hails from China and was first cultivated over 700 years ago. In the early 20th century, it went to New Zealand, where farmers began growing the fruit commercially. Seeking a more appealing name for international markets in the 1950s, New Zealanders renamed it “kiwi” after their national bird, whose fuzzy brown appearance mirrored the fruit’s skin. This rebranding helped boost its global popularity, making Kiwi a beloved tropical fruit worldwide.

The fruit was introduced to America in the 1960s when it was marketed under the name “kiwifruit.” The name was chosen to capitalize on the fruit’s unique appearance and to distinguish it from its previous name. The kiwi’s cultivation and popularity in the U.S. grew significantly from that point onward.
