Switzerland: NOBU at the Baur Au Lac

Switzerland: NOBU at the Baur Au Lac

Celebrated Japanese chef Nobuyuki “Nobu” Matsuhisa is bringing the essence of his world-renowned restaurants Nobu & Matsuhisa to Zurich’s Baur au Lac this December 1-11.

For ten days, a team of chefs from Chef Nobu’s Matsuhisa restaurant in Mykonos, Greece will take over the Baur au Lac’s Rive Gauche restaurant, which normally serves modern Mediterranean grill cuisine, offering exclusive Japanese and Peruvian specialties such as Tiradito, Black Cod Yuzu Miso and New Style Sashimi.  Guests will experience the same level of culinary excellence found in Chef Nobu’s flagship restaurants, along with the sophistication and service of Zurich’s finest hotel.

Guests can also enjoy cocktails and pre-dinner small plates at the hotel’s recently renovated Terrasse – the place to see-and-be-seen for Zurich’s ‘it’ crowd. Those looking for a more traditional Swiss culinary experience can also visit the hotel’s recently renovated Pavillion restaurant.

Recently completing an approximately $41 million renovation, the 120-room hotel is a short walk from Zurich’s world-famous Bahnhofstrasse, the central Paradeplatz, numerous museums and the city’s bustling financial district. It is also home to newly renovated Pavillion and Terrasse restaurants, as well as Rive Gauche restaurant, and is steps from the sparkling waters and boat cruises of Lake Zurich. The Baur au Lac is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

Chef Nobu Matsuhisa has been a pioneer for Japanese cuisine since opening his first restaurant in New York with actor Robert De Niro in 1994.  The creative selection of dishes draws from Nobu’s classical training at sushi bars in Tokyo as well as his experience abroad in Peru, Argentina and various other parts of the world.  Today there are over 20 Nobu & Matuhisa restaurants world-wide, with locations including London, Hong Kong, Milan, the Bahamas and Cape Town.
