CHILL Out at Scottsdale’s Outdoor Ice-Rink
There’s a first for Scottsdale, Arizona– the desert destination known mostly for extreme 115-degree days mid-summer (it’s a desert after all). Well, that’s all about to change when CHILL, Scottsdale’s first and only outdoor hybrid ice-skating rink, transforms a pool deck at W Scottsdale into a winter wonderland from November 16, 2012 through January 6, 2013.
The 1,600-square-foot hybrid ice-skating rink, comes complete with a snow machine, which will create falling flakes each hour. Private twinkle-lighted cabanas can be booked ahead of time.
As with any other ice skating rink, skate rentals are available on site Monday through Friday 4pm-12am and Saturday through Sunday 12pm-12am. Guests can skate to live music performances and DJ’s who will spin through out the holidays.
So, how can a desert locale offer up something this unique? It’s not really ice!
The synthetic ice requires no need for generators or electricity and is made from a recyclable, eco-friendly polymer compound. What will they think up next?
The hotel’s Chill Out room package is available November 16, 2012-January 6, 2013, starting at $239 per night and includes accommodations, free drinks and unlimited skate rental.
